Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a fairly common disease in the population, but which is sometimes underestimated their potential and their ability to influence the quality of life. For gastroenterologists is a disabling condition such as diabetes or depression. Many of the patients with GERD who think their condition predisposes them to suffer more serious entities such as gastric cancer, with everything that entails from the psychological point of view.

Patients with GERD have a higher incidence of esophageal cancer in the lower third of it due to the effect of acidic gastric juice on the esophageal mucosa. An important factor in the genesis of this disease is the consumption of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). These drugs are used to treat pain especially chronic osteoarticular diseases. According to the experts that these products have widespread use worldwide, are not exempt of risks.

For proper treatment of this disease using drugs that inhibit the proton pump in the cells of the gastric mucosa, or inhibiting gastric acid production, and thus maintain a normal PH level. These drugs improve the quality of life of patients significantly, because it improves the quality of sleep, vitality, and so on.
